BLASTOCYST TRANSFER

BLASTOCYST TRANSFER

Embryo transfer is a stage of IVF/ICSI treatment. It can traditionally be performed either during the cleavage stage (on the third day of embryo culture in the laboratory, or D3) or at the blastocyst stage, which occurs on the fifth day (D5) of embryonic development after fertilization. At the blastocyst stage, the embryo already has hundreds of differentiated cells directed to specific locations, which will soon give rise to the placenta and the fetus. This is the latest stage of embryo development that current assisted reproduction technologies are able to achieve before implanting it into the uterus or cryopreserving it.

55% of embryos reach this stage during laboratory culture. Specialists believe these are precisely the healthiest samples, which is why embryos transferred at the blastocyst stage have a higher chance of resulting in a successful pregnancy. To summarize, here are some advantages of blastocyst transfer compared with D3 embryo transfer:

We are proud to say that Origen Clinic was a pioneer of this technique in Latin America, with successful transfers recorded since 1999.
