VIDEOLAPAROSCOPY
It is a procedure used for the diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the pelvic organs. It is a minimally invasive surgery that uses a camera inserted into the abdominal cavity through a small incision in the umbilical scar. Videolaparoscopy makes it possible to directly visualize the entire peritoneal cavity (abdomen and pelvis) and its organs clearly, broadly, and in depth, allowing the diagnosis of conditions such as endometriosis, ovarian cysts, subserosal or intramural fibroids, dilated fallopian tubes, and uterine malformations.
Videolaparoscopy is mainly used when the investigation and treatment of the condition can be performed at the same time, such as in cases of endometriosis, certain types of fibroids, and hydrosalpinx. It follows the guidelines of a hospital surgical procedure, requiring hospitalization and general anesthesia, and is performed using a camera inserted into the abdominal cavity through a small incision (1 cm) in the inner curve of the navel.
