There are different types of families, and Clínica Origen is proud to support all of them in achieving their dreams. Couples made up of two women or two men require assisted reproductive technology (ART) to conceive, and we provide all the necessary support for this process, just as we do for heterosexual couples.
However, each type of couple has its own particularities, which we will explain step by step below:
First, the couple must decide which partner will undergo each stage of the ART process and pregnancy. One partner will undergo ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval. Next, the retrieved eggs will be artificially inseminated with sperm from an anonymous donor using the IVF/ICSI method. Finally, the resulting embryos are transferred to the uterus of one of the partners.
This is a more complex process than the one for female couples, as the couple will need both an egg donor and a gestational carrier. The law requires that the egg donor remain anonymous. She will undergo IVF treatment using sperm collected from one of the partners. The final step is transferring the fertilized embryos to the uterus of the gestational carrier, who, according to a determination by the Federal Council of Medicine (CFM), must be a relative of up to the fourth degree of one of the two men.
